Sweet As Sugar

Each day at home with this little sugar pie we call Calliope is an adventure!  I never know what I am going to get with her.  Some days, she plays well all by herself and doesn't want me around a whole lot.  Other days, she flips out if I leave her side. So obviously some are a bit more stressful than others.

Lately, especially now that she is ALOT more mobile, she wants me around ALL the time. As I started to get frustrated in looking at the messy house around me, she flashed a smile at me, and I melted.  It put into perspective many things for me. I soaked her in again, and all was well in my world. 

The laundry and dishes can wait when I have Calliope, who wants to spend her time with me :)

I mean seriously!!! Would you rather entertain her, let her give you slobbery kisses, etc. or fold clothes?

AND SHE'S OFF!!!

So, Sunday night, the 20th, Calliope took her first few "crawling steps".  We were all excited, as she has been acting like she wants to crawl for about a week and a half now... I was telling Ken and my Mom that I didn't give her a week and she would be all over.  Well, it was more like 3 days!  As of this morning, she has figured out that she can do it, and IS.  I tried to get her on video, but she stops!  However, I kept trying, and managed to get a smidge recorded.  Here she is:

I am SOOOO not ready for her to be mobile yet.  I foresee a late night of cleaning and babyproofing everything!

Sleepy Time Shenanigans

So almost 2 weeks ago, Calliope finally was taken out of her "sleep suit", and has been sleeping AMAZINGLY! (if that is even a real word)  After a couple of rough nights of her getting used to  "freedom", she now will go to sleep between 7:15-8, and sleeps till 6 or 7.  This is a wonderful wonderful thing!

She is a crazy sleeper!  She is ALL over the crib during nap and night time...  it is rather funny to watch her.  She often uses her bumper as her very own bdy pillow.

Monday at nap time, I was watching her and realized that she wasn't laying down anymore!  I grabbed the camera and went into her room, this is what she was doing:

Yes, SHE WAS STANDING!  Now, mind you that she has been pulling up on things lately, but usually stopped at her knees.  Not today!  Now, it is straight up.  She is growing WAY WAAAAY too fast!

To further her sleep time fun, Ken and I had gone to get in bed, and as we were getting all settled I looked at her monitor, and saw that she was sleeping like this:

Her booty sticking up in the air, and squished head in the upper left corner of her crib!  She stayed like this for a LONG time...

I can't wait to try and get a picture of her all cuddled up with her bumper to share...  she is truly a riot.  Even when she is sleeping!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Tonight at Peyton's school, Central Park Elementary they held their annual "Daddy & Daughter Dance".  This was supposed to be last Friday, but as all of you local people know, it was postponed due to snow.

After school today, Peyton and I made a quick shopping trip to get her a new dress, and a new pair of shoes. We scored her dress at 3 Monkeys, and were both super excited about it!  I wish they made it in my size, as I would totally of bought it. 

And I must tell you that the pictures below are retakes, yes I said it, RETAKES!!!  I am a ding dong, and accidentally deleted the "original photos" off of the memory card :(  After they got over being mad at me for making them get re-dressed, I got to snap some more. Keep this in mind, as her curls had mostly fallen out, and she is tired.  Ken was irked with me too...

They had a great time... ate chick fil a and some sweet stuff and then danced the night away!  Ken was happy to report that he dance to THREE, yes, THREE Justin Beiber songs.  Good times :)

Calliope and Her Big Brother Drew

So, I think I have mentioned before how much she loves Drew.  He can just look at her and she gets the biggest grin on her face.  After his appointment today he was sitting with us while taking her pictures, and I asked him to pose for me with her.  He obliged :)  Then Calliope saw his knee brace and was in awe of it.  Check it out!

So today while taking pictures of Calliope, she was all over the place.  She is trying SOOO hard to crawl and pull up on things, and today she got close enough to the table and got really close to standing up all the way.  She slipped and it scared her, so she was done for the moment...

She is growing up so stinkin' fast!  I figure she will be crawling within the next week or two!  And she will be into EVERYTHING!  She already is with the way she gets around now.  I know what we will be doing this weekend... BABYPROOFING!

Let's Go Flyers!!

Ken's sister, Angela, sent us the cutest Flyers outfit when Calliope was born. It was way too big for her to wear when she was new, so as she has grown, I have kept it in her closet to have handy for the day I thought she could pull it off without it looking too silly.  Well, today was that day!  I had to take her with me to take Drew to the orthopedic doctor, and thought what the heck! Ken will love it if I put her in it.  Here are some of my favorite pics of her wearing her Flyers outfit.
